This by no means was simple but the joy I got when Afton saw the horse I had made for her made it all worth it.

A few weeks before Christmas I wanted to make a rocking horse for Afton.  I was not able to get it all done for christmas so we set a goal of having it done for her birthday.  I still was not able to finish it so we celebrated her birthday with Brady and I was able to give it to her then.  It still isn't finished but it is far along enough that she can ride it.

I have seen many times at funerals people bring items for displays of things that their dad made for them and they cherish them and are so proud to say that my dad made this for me.  You see this a lot with the older generations.  I think of the joy they must have making things just because for their kids.

I hope that Afton will be able to keep and enjoy this horse for years to come and pass it on to her kids and say grandpa built this.

Service and giving of ones time and efforts is one of the biggest sources of joy you can have.  It brings joy to both individuals.

Once I can get it stained and the hair and tail added I will post the finished version.
